5th Lunchmeat festival – “Bigger, Better, Brighter – and still Brave”

Lunchmeat Festival became an integral part of the Czech club scene during its five years of existence and is one of the most important examples of an innovative interconnection between electronic music and visuals. Its creative and dramaturgic philosophy will be present at this year’s Lunchmeat Festival, which is exceptional for a number of reasons.

The first one is, undoubtedly, the duration of the festival. 5th Lunchmeat festival will be happening over course of one month, from the 29th of March until the climactic night of the 25th of April, which will be happening on the premises of a former cinema located in underground of Veletržní Palace and will showcase the freshest and already established names of contemporary club music with the 2.0 tag. Evian Christ, author of futuristic beat constructions and one of the producers of Kanye West revolutionary album Yeezus is amongst the first announced names, as well as MissingNo – one of the best new instrumental grime artists of 2013 and muscovite beat maximalist 813.

Resident artist principle will be again present through actions of invited visual artists who will create site-specific installations and stage design for the festival headliners.

The main evening will be preceded by four warm-up nights at NEONE club, which is successfully run by the Lunchmeat collective since September 2013 and which grew from the initial pop-up experiment to a popular venue with an unique atmosphere, exceptional visuals and maybe the freshest music dramaturgy in Prague. Each of the festival’s nights is a beyond-genre reaction to the contemporary trends of progressive club scene; opening night will present Groundislava, iconic American producer and important representative of California beat scene and Friends of Friends and Wedidit collectives.

A key part of Lunchmeat festival will, as always, be creative interventions of visual art in urban space. Unique projections, installations and performances will take place in urban ecosystem – some of them being a part of Pavel Karous project “Vetřelci a volavky”. Specialized visual workshops, managed by the foremost young VJ’s, will be also an integral part of the festival.
