CYBERCLASSICISMO
The Roman collective Touchy Toy proposes a work that harnesses video processing, combined with hologram technology, to give a new high-tech twist to some of the most important sculptures of the classical era. The work aims to merge different techniques of the visual arts, such as sculpture and video.

In a utopian vision, the collective imagines a different enjoyment of art, where the artwork is replaced by a three-dimensional projected representation. In future exhibitions, users will be able to enjoy an immersive experience by interacting with art through the use of technologies such as holograms, VR headsets, and augmented reality works.

Touchy Toy simulates, with current technologies, the landing of art in this cybernetic environment, which the collective defines as CyberClassicismo.

What is needed

For the installation to function, at least three power points near the artwork are required, public passage around the artwork, the ability to adjust the brightness of the exhibition space (otherwise, it will be necessary to obtain drapery to enclose the artwork in order to dim the brightness), and preferably a PA system.

What the artists brings

Exploiting the idea of the canonical display of statues, the work is set up along these lines. The installation consists of a pedestal, which acts as a support for a frame. Inside this frame is a tablet that projects a video inside a pyramid structure (made of a transparent plastic film), creating a three-dimensional hologram.
For this effect to be successful, it will be essential to reduce the work's exposure to external light sources, as the illumination will be provided by the tablet's screen.
